Hands down, the greatest PSP game of all time is Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable which was developed by Atlus Inc. The game garnered an average score of 93.21%, highest score any PSP game has achieved. Persona 3 surpasses the critically-acclaimed God of War: Chains of Olympus made by Sony. The score is based on reviews conducted by online game sites as well as user reviews which is all summarized on Gamerankings.com, a website that ranks all games available on all gaming platforms.
Basically, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 is an action-RPG starring a female protagonist named Junpei. Modern day Japan is the backdrop of the story in a place called Tartarus. Upon arrival to her new home, Junpei soon discover that the citizens residing Tartarus turns into demons or “shadows” during the night. As the newest member of SEES or the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, Junpei must battle hordes of monsters during the night or more specifically portrayed in the game as the “Dark Hour”. During the day however, Junpei must go to school, train and build relationships with the characters in the game. The formula is similar to many simulation games. The relationships Junpei builds is a very important factor during combat because this translates into forces known as the Persona – a representation of the game characters’ unique personalities.. The better the relationship Junpei has built with another character, the stronger their resulting Persona would be. Personas come in many different forms and will aid Junpei during combat.
Persona 3 is a well-done game having a unique story, interesting characters, engaging battles and a ton of stuff to do. Graphically, the game is above average, sporting the standard anime flair prevalent to many Japanese RPGs. Sound is composed of catchy tunes and excellent voice work while game play is as unique as it gets!
